Statement of CHARLES STEVE MORALES, Candidate for
Member, City Council
Occupation: Councilmember/Supervising Probation Counselor
Age: 29
Education and Qualifications:
Four years ago, I committed to address growth, public safety and our
economic base as your City Councilman. I am proud of what we've done
in four short years.
We've balanced growth, creating homes at all economic levels, built 2
new neighborhood parks, and started a new system to manage and improve
traffic.
We've worked to improve public safety, hiring new police officers and
making our Anti-Crime Team full-time. My goal is to enhance our three
prong approach: crime suppression, intervention and prevention.
We've created a strong focus on economic development and new jobs,
formed the Gilroy Economic Development Corporation and helped
businesses come and expand in Gilroy, providing significant new jobs.
I'm a proponent of community youth activities, programs and
partnerships with local schools.
But we still have much more work to do, and problems the City Council
needs to solve.
We need new parks, better traffic management and planning. More jobs
must be created. Growth must be managed better.
One thing remains the same: My commitment to work for you, doing
whatever I can to make Gilroy a safer place to raise our families. I
ask for your vote and support to continue this effort.
