Statement of JULIUS CHIANG, Candidate for
Governing Board Member
Occupation: Banker
Age: 44
Education and Qualifications:
Graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1976 with a
BA in Psychology. Have been in banking for 19 years. As a Vice
President and Branch Manager, I currently manage two offices in the
Peninsula. Have a wonderful, working, supportive spouse and a son and
daughter, ages 5 and 1. A firm supporter of education I, for 18 years,
involved myself with Junior Achievement of the Bay Area. A middle
school consultant, I taught business concepts to 8th Graders in both
public and private schools throughout the Bay Area. Eventually became
a Board Member and for 4 years I was involved in their delivery of
Kindergarten through 12th grade J.A. programs.
The Cupertino School District has a reputation for providing an
excellent elementary school education. My only desire for becoming a
board member is to take an active, participatory role in ensuring that
the distinguished quality of education in Cupertino continues for my
children and their peers. I offer my management and people skills, my
training in financial responsibilities, and my commitment to the
children of the Cupertino Elementary School District.
