Statement of JIM FRUCHTERMAN, Candidate for
Governing Board Member
Occupation: CEO of an educational software company
Age: 38
Education and Qualifications:
I am asking you for the privilege of serving on the Board of Education
because I want to work with you for the children of our community. I
will bring to the Board not only energy but a track record of creating
successful businesses and forging partnerships with a wide range of
interests. Our goal should be to deliver the best education to every
student. I can help provide the leadership to make our great school
district even better.
Some of my relevant experience includes:
* Founder of three successful technology companies.
* Eight years experience as CEO, building and leading teams.
* More than ten years as chief financial officer, raising
substantial amounts of capital and managing it responsibly.
* Service on a federal committee, implementing portions of new
telecommunica- tions legislation.
* Fifteen year Palo Alto resident. B.S./M.S. California Institute of
Technology.
In 1989, I saw a social need to help people with disabilities, so I
created a nonprofit organization to use technology to promote reading.
We work with technology companies, libraries, school districts and
colleges nationwide to provide reading systems for people with
learning and visual disabilities. Through leading this organization
and securing substantial commitments for money and equipment, I have
learned how to build successful community partnerships.
As an involved parent with three children in our schools, my goals are
to:
* Balance traditional skills development with new approaches to
curriculum, to meet the need for the student to both get the right
answer and to understand it.
* Provide a well-rounded and consistent quality of education at all
levels, with the top results our community expects.
* Raise more funding for the district from grants and endowments.
* Require solid financial management with sound planning and
accountability for both the building campaign and budget.
* Promote active involvement of parents to help our excellent
teachers deliver the best and most effective educational
experience possible.
Every child is unique and important. As a community, we have a
responsibility to provide children with the most important tool they
will need in life -- a high quality education. I will provide open,
responsible, and responsive leadership to help bring our school
district into a new and exciting millennium. To learn more, contact my
campaign or visit http://www.nanospace.com/jim/. Please join me with
your vote to build a community partnership to realize our goals for
our children.
