My message is straight forward. Sunnyvale has the well-earned national reputation for efficient government and effective services. I have the expertise, time, and energy necessary to build consensus and make informed decisions to keep it that way. I have contributed hundreds of volunteer hours to our community.

My record shows I am responsible and have the credentials necessary to build consensus and to make informed decisions as your council member.

  • QUALITY OF LIFE: I moved to Sunnyvale with my parents in 1958. I have been a student, concerned citizen, homeowner, parent--raising my son Jason here, home owners' association president, and a board commissioner. I have heard over and over again what residents want are safe neighborhoods, a strong Public Safety department, affordable utilities, a good library, well-maintained parks, diversified recreation programs, good senior services, and no air cargo or general aviation at Moffett Field.

  • LEADERSHIP: I am a Leadership Sunnyvale graduate. I served on the Board of Directors for six years and two years as Alumni President. I also served as a staff associate for a local Congressman on Capitol Hill. I know how government works, and I know the importance of listening to constituents.

  • HUMAN SERVICES: I was Chair of Sunnyvale's Housing and Human Services Commission. My company selected me to be a Loaned Executive to the Santa Clara County United Way. From these experiences I learned about community needs and how to address and solve them effectively.

  • PERSONNEL: As the former Chair of Sunnyvale's Personnel Board and a Human Relations Administrator in a major corporation, I know the importance of recruiting and retaining top level staff members. I will use my administrative background and expertise to retain Sunnyvale's high level of efficiency and service.

  • BUSINESS: As a former employee of Lockheed Martin for 34 years and as a Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, I understand the needs of large and small businesses which collectively contribute approximately 80% of Sunnyvale's revenue.

    I will make a difference to Sunnyvale with my honesty, grasp of the issues and my responsible leadership skills. Please vote for Julia Miller--a qualified leader. Thank you for your consideration.
