Education and Professional Background A.B., Stanford University, 1971 (with distinction, Phi Beta Kappa) J.D., University of Michigan, 1976 (magna cum laude, Order of the Coif) Associate and Of Counsel, Morrison & Foerster, San Francisco and Washington, D.C., 1976-1993. General business law practice, including negotiating and documenting complex loan and merger transactions, counseling small and family-held business, and interpreting and applying federal banking, securities and antitrust regulations. Currently a full-time mother, homemaker and community volunteer Community Experience Member of Piedmont School Board, appointed July, 1995 and elected February, 1996. President, 1998-1999. Co-chair of 1994 School Bond Campaign and 1993 School Parcel Tax Campaign Past board member of Beach Parents Organization (President 1990-1991) and Middle School Parents Club Past director of Piedmont Educational Foundation, C.H.I.M.E. and Dress Best for Less Classroom and school volunteer at Beach, Piedmont Middle School and Piedmont High School (since 1987) Girl Scout troop leader and service unit director (1991-1996) Member and community speaker, Oakland-East Bay chapters of PFLAG and GLSEN Volunteer, snack-bringer, chaperone, carpooler and/or coordinator for Piedmont Soccer Club teams, Piedmont Light Opera Theater, PHS Water Polo team, Oakland Youth Orchestra, Piedmont Choirs and the Golden Gate International Children's Choral Festival. Personal Doug Gentry and I have been married for 25 years and have been active in Piedmont since we moved here in 1987. Doug currently teaches at St. Mary's College and has his own internet consulting business. Our children have attended Piedmont schools since we moved here. Katy (age 16) is in 11th grade at Piedmont High School and sings with the Piedmont Choirs and the PHS Troubadours. Philip (age 19) graduated from Piedmont High School in 1998. He is now a sophomore at Wesleyan University majoring in music. I've made a tentative move in my children's footsteps and joined Joe Piazza's Jazz City Singers. |
