Police and Fire ServicesBy Bill SutherlandCandidate for Member of the City Council; City of Torrance | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Keeping Torrance a safe city is a top priority and this is achieved by maintaining top Police and Fire departments. My goal is to keep Torrance a safe city and this is done by making sure our Police department has the best officers and the best equipment. We must draw the best recuits by offering competitive wages and benefits. We must give them state of the art equipment so they can do their job the best way possible and finally by supporting them and their efforts. The second ingredient to a safe city is our Fire department. Torrance has a Class One Fire Department. We must continuing to support their efforts to stay Class One. This is done by financially supporting their efforts to obtain the newest and most technologically advanced equipment and the training to go with it. When you have first class services you have a safe city. A safe city means higher property values, lower fire insurance rates, better business atmosphere, happy residents. All of the above translates to a high quality of life for the residents. |
