At 36 years old, Shawn is the future of progressive politics in San Francisco. Shawn is a neighborhood activist and a strong and vocal advocate for small business, gay/lesbian/bisexual and transgender concerns and youth issues. Shawn is a 1986 graduate of the catholic University of San Diego with a degree in Political Science. He currently works at City College of San Francisco in the HIV/STD Education Office training peer educators in HIV/STD Prevention. He served 2 years on the City's HIV Prevention Planning Council (HPPC), is past Co-Chair of the Lavendar Caucus for Local 790 Labor Union and belongs to over 40 neighborhood, Democratic and Environmental groups. He ran for Supervisor citywide in 1996 and got 8,600 votes and ran again in 1998 and got nearly 18,000 votes and spent less than $1,000 in each race!

He believes that authentic finance reform begins with the candidate being fiscally responsible and not spending more time/energy raising and spending money than discussing the issues and solutions to those issues with the residents.
