Political Philosophy for Dianne Feinstein

My Senate campaigns have always been about the issues and this race will be no different. Public safety, healthcare reform, tobacco control, breast cancer research, open land protection, higher education; these are among my major concerns as a United States Senator. During my seven years in the Senate I have worked on these important issues, and have had great success. But, I am not satisfied. There is still important business to be done. We must continue to fight to pass legislation that takes medical decisions out of the hands of HMO bureaucrats and gives authority back to doctors and patients. I want to continue to work to save Lake Tahoe, whose waters are being polluted and forests are dying. As the only female member of the Judiciary Committee, I see my role as critical in providing a common sense perspective to combat the attempts to reverse the strides that have been made for women and the right to chose. I will continue to stand up for a woman's right to choose. Additionally, I am greatly disappointed that this Congress did not pass legislation that would make our streets safer from gun violence. I will continue to battle to take guns out of the hands of criminals and work to strengthen the assault weapons ban. |
