Dear Alameda County Water District Resident, My name is Marty Koller and I am running to be your representative on the Alameda County Water District. I want to use my 27 years experience in water quality control to ensure that the District continues to bring you the finest quality water and remains fiscally responsible to you the taxpayers. The concerns I see for the District are as follows: 1) The District needs to remain fiscally responsible to you the taxpayer. With proper planning, the District should be able minimize any unforeseen expenditures that could create a need for unplanned rate changes which impacts all residents, but especially fixed-income residents. 2) Proper planning for future growth needs to be addressed. We need to work with other government agencies (city, county, and state) to ensure that we have the proper infrastructure to meet the future demands of the Tri-Cities. 3) Water quality needs to be continuously reviewed to ensure that the District's high standards are always met. 4) Many government agencies are considering contracting to outside firms work that is normally done by its employees. The District currently has some of the highest skilled employees in the industry. These employees utilize those skills to perform all of the work within the District and, therefore, are prepared to handle any situation that may occur. This knowledge is invaluable and contracting outsiders will rob the District of those skilled employees. I have been involved with many community service groups throughout my life and want to continue that service as your representative on the Alameda County Water District. Please vote for me on November 7th. |
