| 
 Debi has a B.A. in management from St. Mary's College of California and a paralegal certificate from the University of California at Berkeley. She is a community activist of over 15 years, participating in all aspects of local government and community affairs, including the South Berkeley Neighborhood Development Corporation (SBNDC) - on which she served as a board member, executive director and chair of the Budget and Finance Committee; member of the board of the Berkeley Art Center; candidate for the Berkeley School Board; Alternate for the Berkeley Zoning Adjustment Board; Member of the Board of Trustees for Arrowsmith Academy; community activist for Keith Carson, Alameda County Supervisor; volunteer on the Committee to Elect U.S. Congresswoman Barbara Lee; member of the Berkeley Site Enrichment Program; and an Equal Employment Opportunity Counselor for the US Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit. A former student of Laney and Merritt colleges of the Peralta district, Debi is a Berkeley native and the daughter of Alvin and Ruth McIntyre. Alvin is a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 665, and also of the Postal Workers Union. Deborah's grandfather was a member of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters of Oakland. She is the mother of a 16-year-old son, Nicholas, who is a high school senior and former Laney College summer session student.  |
