If you've lived in Antioch as long as I have you know that Highway 4 has been a mess for decades. BART has been an empty promise for over 30 years! For years no politician has seriously pushed for improving Highway 4 and bringing BART to Antioch. Now, while our political leaders seek election to higher office, they are suddenly ready to make transportation a campaign issue. You and I know that transportation isn't just a campaign issue, it's a quality of life issue!

In office I will -

On the regional level -

• Lobby for state and federal surplus funds for transportation.
• Seek Legislation requiring additional transportation funds and BART extensions to Antioch before San Jose.
• Seek Legislation to redirect the quarter-cent sales tax we pay for BART and use it for widening Highway 4 or our own light rail system, if BART refuses to come to Antioch.
• If needed I will seek Litigation on behalf of Antioch taxpayers to reccver our three decades worth of taxes.
• I will seek a court injunction blocking BART from further expansion until it fulfills its' contractual obligation to east county.
• Keep the pressure on Sacramento to fast track the environmental reporting process for highway widening projects.

• Push for regional job centers so people can work in town.
• Explore ways to speed up the Brentwood Bypass project.
• Work with local cities to create a light rail system.
• Push for regional growth limitations.
• Seek a balanced highway mitigation fee among all east county cities.
• Explore the use of funneling techniques to speed the flow of cars on Highway 4 during peak hours.
• Push for Cal Trans to use a reversible lane for speeding commute traffic.

• Slow residential growth to keep more cars out of Antioch.
• Coordinate traffic lights on all major roads including Lone Tree Way.
• Oppose multi-family construction, especially near transportation arteries.
