GENE A. LUNDQUIST

(Candidate for Reelection as Director, Division 7, Kern County Water Agency)

STATEMENT OF POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY

California water policy issues are very contentious. I believe in working to bring competing interests together in order to reach our Kern County goal of gaining an adquate, affordable, pure water supply.

To do this we have been creative and proactive among the state's water interests...and have achieved an enviable reputation for managing our Kern County water.

Indeed, water leaders throughout the state are looking to Kern County as a model because of our management of water supply through water banks and surface deliveries.

I am very committed to causing water development to happen for our urban, municipal, and agricultural use.

I'm particularly proud to have conceived of the idea and convinced others and caused to come to fruition the "Farm Water Works" education sign program that the public sees while traveling on the states major freeways such as I-5 or Highway 99.

I'm also proud to have worked to encourage the historic agreement between the Kern County Water Agency and the City of Bakersfield to keep water in the Kern River for aesthetic and recreational purposes for all of our benefit.
