Governing Board Member; Garden Grove Unified School District

I am running for the Garden Grove school board because I want to make a difference in education, and I know that working together we can make the Garden Grove School District a model for the millennium!!

THE ROAD TO SUCCESS IS PAVED WITH EDUCATION

In America, only education can level the playing field between people of all backgrounds and socio-economic status and afford every individual a chance to succeed by their own merit. That is why access to a good education is so critical to providing the equality of opportunity we cherish as Americans. I am seeking the office of Governing Board Member of the Garden Grove Unified School District because I feel passionately about the need for a strong educational system, and I feel I can contribute fresh ideas and sound judgment to the decision making process that shapes and defines education for students of the Garden Grove Unified School District.

IMPROVING EDUCATION REQUIRES MORE THAN GOOD TEACHERS AND GOOD TEXTBOOKS

Today, in the Garden Grove School District, a signifcant number of students don't know English when they enter the school system. In addition, many students come from homes where they can't expect help from their parents with English reading and writing. Still other students live in overcrowded conditions where it is difficult to find quiet time to study and where distractions are ever present. That is why today, more than ever, in order to improve upon the level of education in the Garden Grove Unified School District, the board must develop programs that address the challenges our students face in today's society outside the classroom. We must recognize that to succeed in education in the new millennium takes more than dedicated teachers and good text books.

We must look beyond the classroom, and find ways to overcome the challenges that often prevent students from reaching their potential. I am convinced, if we as a community can hurdle the obstacles that hold back our students, the level of education in the Garden Grove Unified School District will soar.
