Our one-acre minimum lot size, along with our strict building ordinances, are the very backbone of our wonderful Town, which give us the open space feeling and the countrified environment that we all love.

Dear Friends,

In the Oct 10th issue of the Palo Alto Daily News, Judy & Paul Simon and Betsy & Ernie Bertram speculate that I want to eliminate the one-acre minimum lot size. This is not true! Our one-acre minimum lot size, along with our strict building ordinances, are the very backbone of our wonderful Town, which give us the open space feeling and the countrified environment that we all love. In my eight years on the Planning Commission and in my seven months on the Town Council, there has never even been a discussion of eliminating our treasured one-acre minimum, nor has there been any discussion to increase development. My record is public. These accusations are political attacks and bear no truth.

There have also been letters and unkind comments about an off-road pathway easement on my property with the accusation that I blocked it intentionally. First of all, there is no active off-road pathway on my property, only an easement for a potential future pathway. This issue was discussed in the last election, and it has been investigated by the Town staff and discussed by the City Council on October 5th. The staff reported no violation on my property. At this meeting, the Council voted unanimously to accept the Staff's report.

There is no place in our Town for negative, untruthful campaign distortions.

When re-elected, I will continue to do my best to bring balance, thoughtfulness, cohesiveness, common sense and harmony to your government.

Please Vote for me on November 7th. Best Regards, Councilwoman Emily Cheng
