Statement for the Office of Harbor Commissioner

Clean oceans, sustainable fisheries, public access, coastal communities

I was recently selected to serve on the Pew National Oceans Commission. The issues that this Commission will address include coastal development, ocean pollution and fishing practices. Final recommendations on these issues will be given to the United States Congress. I am a delegate to the World Fisheries Forum whose goal is to promote clean oceans, sustainable fisheries, and viable coastal communities. I work with the chefs of the Culinary Institute of America educating them on importance of serving local, seasonal seafood. I am working toward installing interpretive signs on coastal trails to raise awareness of the area.

My dedication and commitment to the environment, responsible fishing practices, coastal communites and marine resources has been recognized by the Environmental Protection Agency, National Fisherman, Half Moon Bay, San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, California legislature and United States Congress.

I have resided in the County with my wife for 22 years. I graduated from Woodside Priory School. My education includes a B.S. in Chemistry and an M.S. in Biology.
