I am running for the U.S. House of Representatives in Congress because I believe I can do a good job of representing the people of this district, this state, and this country. A member of Congress has enormous power to influence and affect public policies. In that respect, I am passionate about social justice and equality.

We entered the new millennium with many new challenges facing our present and future generations. To meet those challenges, we need to elect courageous leaders who are willing to make progressive changes in our economic and social programs such as social security, health care, education, taxes, safeness, and the environment. The leaders we choose now will determine what America will look like in the 21st Century.

As a Californian, I represent the diverse values and share the same hopes and dreams of the average citizen of this great state of ours. As your Congressman, I will fight to legislate and support laws that will always improve the lives of working families, our children, our parents and grandparents. Give me the opportunity to make those changes that will affect our lives now ... for the good and the better. Believe in what is possible ... together we can make a difference!

Please reach out and tell someone about my message and my campaign to be your next representative in the U.S. Congress. And please ... go out and vote on Tuesday, November 7, 2000. Thank you.

"The issue is not what this country can do for Diversity ... it's what Diversity can do for America."

...Tom Santos, 2000
