HAMILTON COUNTY COMMISSIONER JOHN DOWLIN John Dowlin is the vice-president of the Hamilton County Board of Commissioners. He was previously the mayor of the City of Sharonville for over 28 years. He took office as Hamilton County Commissioner in 1991 when his predecessor, Ohio Governor Bob Taft, was named Secretary of State of Ohio. John is on the Board of Trustees of the National Association of Counties and is a co- founder of its Large Urban County Caucus. He also chairs the Courts and Corrections Subcommittee of its Justice and Public Safety Committee. John also serves on the Board of Trustees of the County Commissioners Association of Ohio. He is a member of the Annexation Committee, Legislative Committee, and he chairs the Courts and Corrections Committee. He is a member of the Ohio Criminal Sentencing Commission and is a charter member of the Domestic Violence Coordinating Council. Commissioner Dowlin is past president of the Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana Regional Council of Governments and a past member of the local Community Action Agency Executive Committee. He is a member of Leadership Cincinnati and a member of Cincinnatus. Commissioner Dowlin has received many awards for his civic and community involvement. The Center for Chemical Addictions Treatment has presented him with its "Kindred Spirit Award" In recognition of his outstanding commitment to the people of Hamilton County and to the State of Israel, the Jewish National Fund has recognized him with its highest honor, the 'Tree of Life Award" He has also been honored as "Public Official of the Year" and "Best Mayor" John Dowlin is now retired after 38 years with Procter and Gamble. He and his wife, Sally, live in Sharonville. They have four children and nine grandchildren, |
