Civic CenterBy Jerry P CambraCandidate for Member, City Council; City of San Ramon | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
We need a Civic Center that will meet the needs of the entire communityThe residents have spoken through the City Center Task Force and at the May 22nd public workshop. We need a new Library, a Performing Arts Center, a privately funded Children's Discovery Museum and some small scale retail (restaurants, coffee shop, gift shops, etc.). We need to focus on places to gather, such as open recreational areas, and build a crossing over Bollinger Canyon Road for the safety of all. City offices, Council Chambers and more small scale retail may be built on the 7.7 acre south parcel. FUNDING We must first determine costs. Next we must look into all potential sources of funds. These are Corporate Sponsorships, Proposition 14 funds, Arts grants, Fund Raising efforts, and Certificates of Participation. We must not move to a Bond Measure, asking the residents to tax themselves, until we have fully explored all other sources of funding. |
