QUALIFICATIONS:
 
- Appointed by the California Legislature to the "Joint Committee to Develop a Master Plan for Education - Kindergarten through University"
 - Serving as Modesto City Schools' Board of Education representative to the  Region 6 California League of High Schools (a statewide organization dedicated to the most current educational trends for high school students, including school-to-career and workplace objectives)
 - Serving on the Modesto City Schools' SAFE SCHOOLS PROJECT Committee to implement programs to ensure safe and peaceful schools; foster individual student academic achievement on campuses where "respect for all" is promoted and rewarded; and, to increase the District's high school graduation rate
 - Elected by the members of the school boards in Stanislaus County to serve as their delegate to CSBA (California School Boards Association)
 - Serving as Governmental Relations Chairperson for California Assembly Member Dennis Cardoza (26th District) as an advocate for the students enrolled in California public schools
 - Member, California School Boards Association's SCHOOLS & MEDIA CRISIS COMMUNICATION TASK FORCE
 - Serving on the Modesto City Schools' SARB (School Attendance Review Board)
 - Member, Board of Directors, Salida Area Public Facilities Financing Agency (SAPFFA); previously served as an Alternate Member for two years
 - Served two years as Alternate to the Schools Infrastructure Financing Agency (SIFA) Board of Directors
 - Serving second year as MCS representative to the California Association of Large Suburban School Districts (CALSSD)
 - Initiated the CALSSD proposal to the legislators for the consolidation of numerous assessment tests. (The proposal can be viewed at http://www.calssd.org.)
 - Serving as an officer for the MCS District Financing Corporation
   
EXPERIENCE IN EDUCATION-RELATED ACTIVITIES:
- Have volunteered for the past  10 years as a mentor in west Modesto (620 Paradise Apartment Complex) working with at-risk youth and gang members encouraging them to complete high school
 - Served for 15 years as a junior high and high school Health Education speaker
 - Served for 13 years as an Instructor and Counselor to pregnant teens
 - Served for six years as a classroom Parent Aide for grades K-5
 - Served as a liaison between runaways and the Modesto Police Department
 - Served on the Stanislaus County Office of Education's Committee for Youth and Gang Violence Prevention
