1. How would you implement your top priority?

Answer from Edward J. Felson:
I will fight to restore citizens? trust in Hamilton County?s judicial system by advocating increased preparation time for public defenders to help prevent wrongful convictions. I successfully lobbied the Hamilton County Public Defender?s Office to increase wages for public defenders. This action ensured that citizens who could not afford counsel were not denied their right to qualified counsel. I will also support procedures that encourage selection of juries that are reflective of our community.
Answer from Karla J. Grady:
I am presently working with a mental health court task force in establishing and implementing this court. Our group includes judges, county commissioners, doctors, treatment providers, prosecutors, defense attorneys and police. Together, we are setting up a framework for the operation of this court which will address the needs of all the participants.
