|
Carol Lacy, age 58, has been a resident of Monterey County and District 2 for more than thirty years. During that time she has distinguished herself as a well-respected community leader on issues ranging from housing, development and water to health care and education. Carol is married with two grown children and one grandchild. She has a Salinas-based business dealing with public health and safety issues. Carol was elected to the North Monterey County Unified School Board in 1977 and re-elected in 1981. During her tenure on the Board the district planned and built North Monterey County High School. The superior educational success of that school is evidence of the high standards set by Carol and the board at the beginning of its existence. Carol has served on the Grand Jury, which investigates County government. She served as Chair of the Board for the Monterey County Special Healthcare Authority, a State pilot project providing care to MediCal recipients. She also served on the Natividad Hospital Advisory Committee, a committee charged with reporting to the Board of Supervisors on matters pertaining to the hospital. In addition she is a long time member and current chair of the 101 Bypass Committee, entrusted with finding solutions to North County traffic problems. She has also served on the North County Water Advisory Board since 1994 and has been a key and influential member of the Monterey County Planning Commission since 1996. With seven years experience on the Planning Commission Carol knows how development issues should be handled. Development must be approved or rejected strictly on merit, meaning how it will impact the community in terms of water, infrastructure and traffic. Carol's long time involvement with the community and her unique knowledge of the needs of the residents makes her eminently qualified to serve as Supervisor for the District. |
