I was born in San Francisco, and was educated in the San Francisco public schools. I am a proud graduate of George Washington High School and San Francisco State University.

In the 1970s, I taught for several years in the San Francisco Unified School District. I am now a member of the senior staff of an international nonprofit corporation with offices in San Francisco.

I was raised in a family that discussed politics and current issues at the dinner table. I am lifelong Republican whose continuing interest in politics led me to volunteer for a number of campaigns in recent years.
