I have lived in the Union City From 1975 to 1988 and am living in Fremont since 1989. I am married with two children, both Fremont's Mission San Jose High School graduates. My education and Experience makes me the ideal candidate for this position. I have a BS degree in Chemistry, a BS degree in Civil Engineering and a MS degree in Environmental/Sanitary Engineering from the UC- Berkeley in 1969. I am a registered Civil Engineer with the State of California since 1974. Since 1970, I have been employed with Department Of Public Works of City and County of San Francisco. I have over 32 years of experience in the planning, design and construction of Water/Waste water, treatment and Disposal facilities. I have worked on one of the largest federally funded project - San Francisco's $2.3 Billion Clean water program. This project included $155 Million expansion of the Southeast plant, the construction of several large underground concrete boxes to store and treat wet weather flow, construction of the new Oceanside Treatment plant ($200 million) etc. During the course of this project, I managed of dozens of consultant contracts worth millions of dollars. Currently, I am managing a group that conducts hydraulic analyses of the City's inadequate 900 miles of sewer system. I am a member of American Waterworks Association and Water Environmental Federation. I am also a community activist and am involved in programs that assist senior citizens, battered women, earthquake victims and vision-impaired people etc. As a long term resident of the Tri-City area, I believe that I can positively contribute and provide leadership to the Water board. I would also serve as an important liaison between San Francisco, the Owner of Hetch Hetchy System that supplies 30% of our water and the Alameda County water District for upcoming issues regarding seismic retrofit of this system. In addition, I will ensure that safe, reliable and high quality water is delivered to the Tri-City residents while keeping the water rates minimum. Water is a god given gift and a precious resource. It must be used wisely. |
