How we age as a CityBy Art DeBoltCandidate for Council Member; City of Los Alamitos | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Public safety,Police Services, Street Maintenance all rank at the top of a city's "to do list". Yet the physical deterioriation and gradual erosion of the beauty of our city can be avoided. How we age as city is important to the overall quality of life of all who live in Los Alamitos. Our city is 42 years of age and it is beginning to show. Our home owners and other property owners recognize the need to periodically update and modernize their homes and properties. It not only helps to maintain their value in dollars but also preserves the beauty and quality of their neighborhoods. Such is the case for our city. We have just begun the first step in improving and updating the public rights of way. Landscaping our medians, planting trees, refurbishing or rebuilding perimeter walls abutting the public rights of way all complement what we do as individuals to improve our own properties. We must have on our city council those who are not afraid to update the public's property. We have funds in reserve far in excess of what is considered "prudent". That excess should be used to benefit all of our citizens; spending where it can be seen and where it will add value to all of our city. |
