Candidate for
Council Member; City of Lake Forest

I believe in the future of Lake Forest. Our city is an exciting place to work and live. We continue to make strides, however, we still face a number of pressing challenges. Challenges I will immediately address should our city elect me to public office:

1. Bringing Local Government Closer to the People. Our City continues to grow, but are we growing gracefully? How effectively are our city services being delivered? How accessible are our elected officials? A cornerstone of my campaign is, once elected, to officially recognize Lake Forest's neighborhood associations. These organizations will serve as a vital link between the community and local government to assist our elected officials in addressing the critical issues facing the city. I have a great deal of experience in this field as I have already helped implement a similar system for the City of Los Angeles.

2. Appropriate Police and Fire Services. September 11, 2001 taught us just how invaluable our first responders are, and that no price is too high for the appropriate level of service. We recently annexed in Portola Hills and Foothill Ranch, but are are current service levels still adequate? I am committed to ensuring that the people of Lake Forest receive the best possible level of police and fire protection.

3. Attracting Small Business. Its clear that our city has no shortage of office space. Our current elected officials have made our city extremely attractive to developers, but what about small business? Why are there so many `For Sale' and `For Lease' signs throughout our city? Driving up Bake Parkway, you are bombarded with these signs, yet we continue to develop. Is Lake Forest doing all it can to attract and, perhaps more important, retain small business? Small business is great for the City. It creates jobs and increases our tax base so that the city can provide additional services for the community. Lake Forest needs to take a long hard look at where we are falling short and work with small business to fix these problems, period. It's just that simple.

My wife and I moved to Lake Forest because this is where we want to start our family. Irrespective of the results of the November 5, 2002 election, I am committed to working with our elected officials to ensure that Lake Forest continues to make positive strides. I feel obligated to do so for my unborn children and my community. Lake Forest is a vibrant young City, rooted in tradition, but mindful of its innovative future. I hope that I can represent that innovative future.
