As your School Board Trustee, I am proud of our recent acomplishments and ask for your support to continue my work for excellence in education. Westminster was the first school district in California to scrap bilingual education and go to the immersion method of teaching English. Our system is working! Our success rate is double the state average and the highest in Orange County. Our school facilities are in top condition and all of them were recently modernized. We enjoy a 20-1 student to teacher ratio in grades K-3. The District changed to Basic Math and "Phonics" style language arts. We are one of the few Districts that offer a well-rounded curriculum; including music, art and our Beckman science program. In recognition of their excellent leadership, our Superintendent and top staff have all recieved local or state level awards this year. This same excellence in leadership has carried over to outstanding relationships with our district employees. Teachers want to work in Westminster. Last year we had 150 applications for 56 teacher openings. Since being elected, I have completed the "Masters of Boardsmanship" and "Masters of Governance" study programs taught by the California School Boards Association. These programs help me be more effective on your behalf. I am again asking for your support on Election Day. |
