Quallity Housing MixBy Robert K. "Bob" OliverCandidate for Council Member; City of Lathrop | |

There is a need for quality rentals. There is a need for Senior housing.Everyone needs a roof over their head. And that has become increasingly difficult. Some developers want to build only single-family residences: that is where the quick turn over and big money is. But not everyone can access these. Young couples starting out, singles suffering the aftermath of divorce or death often cannot reach the downpayment for a house. But many of them can gather enough to rent and seek quality housing. That need must be met. Many seniors do not need 1500+ square feet of house to keep clean and another 1,000 square feet of yard to tend. There is room set aside in the plans for Mossdale and River Isles for quality housing to fill this need. The developers now at work in these areas have agreed to build to meet this need. It will take courage and skill to see that these plans are not sacrificed for the larger houses with larger profits. I know and have established a relationship with those currently involved in this important work. Together we will see that these needs are filled. |
