|
Candidate Philosophy High Expectations: Children will rise to high expectations when the professionals in the schools plan on them doing so. This applies not only to the children who have a history of success, but to ALL children. Behavioral Standards: If we set firm standards for behavior, and give clear directions to students about what is acceptable and not acceptable, we will create a more productive learning environment for everyone. Mutual Respect: Just as respect forms the foundation for the interactions in the classroom, it also produces more productive relationships on the school board and among the various employee groups. Student Interests: During all deliberations in the school district, focusing on the number one priority, our students' success, can help clarify the solutions. Interest Based Bargaining: In this approach to negotiations, both parties sit down in a conciliatory approach, emphasizing listening to each other's positions and establishing common interests and values, to try to arrive at a solution that meets the interests of all the stakeholders. Fiscal Stability: In this time of statewide budgetary uncertainty, the school district needs to maintain a conservative approach so that we can deal with the potential shortfalls in the coming year. |
