GEORGE A. BURGESS Occupation: Businessman/Corporate Trainer
Education and Qualifications:
I am uniquely qualified to serve you as your only elected full time department head in City Hall. This is my first time as a candidate for public office and I want to use my extensive professional background to strengthen our fine City Clerk's office by using 21st Century technology. To do so, I will draw upon some of my past accomplishments:
Degree, B.A. specializing in Economics and Business # Columbia College By applying my managerial, administrative and technological know-how, I will make the legislative decision-making process unbiased, flow smoothly, and proactive so everyone can participate easily. Using the latest technology available, I will strive to centralize all City records enabling us to readily access information. From 1998 to 2002, as the third person hired, I helped build a $100,000,000 company by explaining USPS regulations, and developing mailing and shipping software for use in businesses and government entities; co-authored and managed the national training programs. In my current business, I initiate a process to review previously filed tax returns and determine if the taxpayer has taken every legal and appropriate deduction allowed by the IRS Code (2,800,000 words). During the past two years, 70% of the reviewed returns had errors or omissions. I have taught securities regulations and 98.5 percent of my students passed the NASD examination and became financial advisors. My career has involved helping people understand, utilize and adhere to federal, state and local laws and regulations. Administering election law and procedures, as your election official, fits my background; complicated laws and regulations are my life
My wife Patricia and I were married 37 years ago and moved to Belmont in In "giving back" to the community, I was Treasurer of the nationally acclaimed Rehabilitation Institute (arthritic, stroke and spinal cord injury patients) and helped oversee the YMCA Human Development Center for battered women. I am currently a member of the Belmont Chamber of Commerce. I urge you to "Let George Do It." geoburgess@attbi.com or 650-703-3171 /s/ George A. Burgess |
