Daly City's future

What we have done to address rapid growth in Daly City.

Everywhere you look, you will see improvements. During the two terms I have been on the council, I have worked hard to make the plans and dreams shared by so many Daly City residents a reality.

Daly City has just completed its first hotel and can look forward to an important new revenue source. We have attracted a significant number of new businesses to the city. We have updated technology in all municipal offices and departments, including public safety, libraries and public programs. We implemented a new police information system, worked to ensure long-term affordability of 501 mobile homes at the Franciscan Mobile Home Park and secured an additional $22.4 in Aircraft Noise Soundproofing Project funds.

Daly City is the largest municipality in San Mateo County but that is only part of the reason we are taking a leadership role in county government. What makes this city so great is that our dynamic city is rich in both diversity and opportunity. We expanded recreation programs to 20 school sites, 175 youth basketball teams and over 100 baseball and softball teams. We initiated our successful after-school homework assistance and tutoring program and implemented a new Pre-kindergarten Readiness Program in all 16 elementary schools. Daly City has been a leader in showing that partnerships between municipal government and local schools can be successful.

We improved water and storm drainage systems, made extensive street improvements and repairs and upgraded public landscaping.

We expanded and renovated the Westlake Library, Dan Gilbrech, Marchbank and Gellert Parks, the Doelger Senior Center, 15-tot lots and constructed a new skate park.

Recently, this council passed landmark legislation that prohibits financial institutions from selling personal information with out client approval.
