Candidate Statement for Frank PughBy Frank PughCandidate for Board Member; City of Santa Rosa High School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
My statement details my position as a candidate for the office of Board Member to the City of Santa Rosa High School District. As a parent of a child attending the Santa Rosa City Schools District and as a teacher at Santa Rosa Junior College, I am firmly committed to providing quality educational programs that raise academic standards and improve the performance of our future graduates. With my active involvement, Santa Rosa City Schools will continue to focus on a path to becoming the best in our state. Since I became a member of the Board of Education, many positive changes have taken place, while others have just begun. Some visible improvements include new schools built and others renovated; smaller class sizes; enhanced technology and student support; principals and teachers better able to assure student safety; and parents with more educational choices and real power to hold schools accountable. With your support, I will pursue educational reforms that produce lasting results. I will continue to promote programs which: First, maintain district-wide accountability and stability. Second, ensure the recruitment and retention of competent teachers. Third, provide our classrooms with textbooks, instructional materials and supplies that conform to new standards for English and mathematics. Fourth, improve after-school, summer, and remedial programs that allow hard-working students to reach their full potential. Thank for your continued support. |
