The Ojai Valley Inn's Expansion ProjectBy Joe DeVitoCandidate for Council Member; City of Ojai | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
A 15 month expansion and remodel of the entire facilityThis expansion and remodel project is extremely important to our ecomonic vitality. The Inn will be removing many of the old buildings and replacing them with new ones. There will be a total of 100 new rooms added. With this expansion, the residents of Ojai will now have a place for weddings or receptions, meetings, and greater food services. This was not possible previously when there were so many large conferences held and there was not sufficient room. A number of years ago, the City adopted the Maricopa Specific Plan. Specifically in this plan, the Inn agreed to keep at least 70% of their land in open space. After this project is completed, there will be 87% of the land in open space, not what was originally agreed to by the Crown Family. Over 66% of their employees live in the Ojai Valley. It will even provide more employment for our citizens translating into less people traveling Highway 33. They have also agreed to work with the City in providing the appropriate housing. This project needs to proceed in a timely manner, go through all the appropriate channels, and all impacts on the environment and traffic created by the project. |
