We have serious environmental problems around us to deal with: landfill, MRF, traffic, air pollution, adult businessesWe will never get a fair deal with the Puente Hills Landfill under County's jurisdiction, because it is operated by County's Sanitation District and is a cash cow for the County. County is building a MRF(Materials Recovery Facility) next to the landfill. It will operate indefinitely into the future and may grow into a monster bigger than the landfill itself. We have chemical companies and adult businesses operating right on our borders with City of Industry. We have to deal with regional transportaion plans that may take our homes and bring more traffic and noise to our residents who live close to the freeway. ONLY AS A CITY, Can we: . Represent our interests on the board of Sanitation District, Council of Government, SCAG, Foothill Transit and other joint power authorities. . Define a sphere of influence around our communities so we can speak out and take legal actions to issues happening near our community. . Monitor the operations of Landfill and MRF to make sure there is no violation of environmental regulations or accidents that may harm us. . Seek better compensation program from Sanitation District for any potential property value loss and necessary mitigation measures to ensure our health and property value. |
