Governing Board Member; Washington Union School District

I feel fortunate to live in and have my children in the Washington Union School District. It is one of the best Districts in the County, if not the State, and I will do everything within my power to keep it that way. With all of the recent and ongoing budget cuts our schools and the schools of California are faced with, I feel we need to apply some creative ideas in order to meet and exceed the academic achievements of the past. I do not feel that we can sit by and conduct "business as usual". We need to thoroughly review the budget and look for alternative ways to provide better benefits for our teachers. I firmly believe that the children are a reflection of those they are taught by. If the teachers are well looked after and don't have to worry about their benefits packages and what type of cuts they will be faced with, they can better focus on what's important - Our Children and their Education! This is my goal, to alleviate some of the outside detractants our teachers are dealing with and creating open forums between teachers, parents and the community in order to address the needs and solutions of the District on an ongoing basis.
