Class Size ReductionBy Tom J. SpencerCandidate for Governing Board Member; Santa Rita Union School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Maintaining smaller class sizes in all grade levels is a top priorityDue to budget constraints, class sizes have started reaching unacceptable numbers. Many core classes at the middle school have risen significantly in size. All elementary sites have been forced to sacrifice the 20-1 student-teacher ratio in two or more of their classes. Fourth and fifth grades are also suffering from larger class sizes. We need to look for innovative solutions to this problem. All spending requests must be carefully evaluated to ensure they do not unduly affect class sizes. If the money could be more effectively spent by putting a teacher in the classroom, then that is what must be done. |
