But in recent years, personality clashes and embarrassing public bickering have overshadowed serious debate on traffic, development and economic issues. On Nov. 4, voters can set the council back on course -- and end the soap opera -- by electing Dena Mossar, Bern Beecham, Judy Kleinberg and LaDoris Cordell. Incumbents Mossar, Beecham and Kleinberg are solid contributors both locally and regionally. Beecham, 54, is a regional leader on two important matters most Palo Altans don't think much about -- utilities and water. The city needs his expertise.
