Political Philosophy for James C. Fussell

Economic recovery: more jobs and retail mean a better quality of life for our citizens. I want to review local ordinances to ensure that they are encouraging job-growth; look for ways to attract businesses to our community, ensure a good balance of retail and set up a "economic strike team" to respond to issues and ensure that we are keeping our business base. Public Safety: The most basic service the city provides is public safety # police, fire, ambulance # and in these economic times, we need to work extra hard to find ways to keep the service at the highest level. Downtown revitalization: I want to ensure that the down town revitalization doesn't create an "unfriendly" environment. We need a vibrant down town that is a place people are comfortable gathering. Housing affordability: I want to ensure that current and future generations can afford to live in Sunnyvale. I want to look for creative ways to ensure teachers, police officers and fire fighters # along with the workers who drive our economy -- can afford to live in our community. |
