A native of California, I have lived on the peninsula almost all my life. I attended Garfield, Hoover and Sequoia High School in Redwood City, then went on to earn a B.A. from San Francisco State University, a Masters Degree from U.C. Berkeley, an Advanced Credential in Educational Psychology from Cal State Hayward and a Doctorate from the University of San Francisco.

My husband Tom and I have three grown children, all of whom attended Laurel, Encinal and Menlo-Atherton High School. Our son Tommy graduated from U.C. Santa Barbara, daughter Lisa from UCLA and Linda from U.C. Berkeley. We have been homeowners in Menlo Park for 32 years. My husband teaches and coaches women's softball at the College of San Mateo, where he also coached football and women's basketball.

My professional career has included 34 years in the public school system from elementary school to the community college. I have worked as a Teacher, School Social Worker, School Psychologist, Administrator of Instruction and Student Services, Director of Bilingual and Multi-Cultural Education, Associate Superintendent of Schools and Vice President, Canada College. Last year I retired from Administration and now teach Sociology at the college.

I have always been active in the community and have served on the following boards in previous years: YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula, Hispanos Unidos, Hispanic Community Foundation. I currently serve on the executive board of the Latino Leadership Council, am President of Redwood City International (RCI Sister City Program) and serve on the board for the Peninsula Community foundation. I was elected four years ago to the Board of Trustees for the Sequoia Union High School District.
