Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Fernando Armenta

Candidate for
County Supervisor; County of Monterey; Supervisorial District 1

This information is provided by the candidate

I believe in the good of people and I always believe in being positive. My belief is that we give everyone a fair shake. I believe in building community and breaking barriers. I believe that by working together we can solve many of the issues before us. It is the responsibility of us all to solve what is at hand.

It is my responsibility as an elected official to put forth ideas and information gathered through listening to my constituents, as well as all the county residents that are interested in speaking to me or the board as a whole. In listening to these concerns and thoughts I also gather information, review information and analyze all before me in order to make sound policy decisions.

My philosophy includes having an open door policy to all, and listening to all in order to make the best possible decision. After listening, analyzing and defining a position I make those crucial decisions to try and deal with those issues before us. I believe that that is true leadership. It is important that policies implemented are policies that will benefit the most not just a few.

I am committed to creating affodable housing, dealing with our healthcare crisis and focusing community efforts on the public safety issues before us. Beyond that, we must deal with the root of many of our problems that we face as a community and that is the economy. We must work collaboratively with various sectors of our business communty as well as business advocacy groups to make certain that these sectors are prosperous in order for the community at large to prosper as well.

I am committed to the following:

CREATING AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR OUR COUNTY RESIDENTS

We need to create more affordable housing opportunities for working class, middle class and our essential workforce that are both mixed-use housing and mixed-income housing in order to create safe communities throughout our County.

DEVELOPING HEALTHCARE OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL OUR COUNTY RESIDENTS

We must develop a collaborative effort with employers, unions, local government and state government to jointly support the healthcare infrastructure and work on providing healthcare for our County residents.

MAKING CERTAIN PUBLIC SAFETY ISSUES ARE ADDRESSED

We must work with our County Sheriff, District Attorney, Probation Department, the various City Police Departments as well as various non-profit organizations, community groups and leaders to address the issue affecting public safety throughout our county.
