Darlene Dunham is a small business owner, Community College Trustee, educator and an active member of the Monterey County community for twenty years. She will bring her unique skills to the important issues that face Monterey County. Darlene was born on the Peninsula and attended schools here. After several years away, while her husband served in Vietnam and she graduated from Cal State Stanislaus, she and her family returned here. Darlene is married to Paul, a manager with a produce processing firm. She and her husband are the parents of a son and daughter, each of whom graduated from high schools on the Peninsula and in Salinas. Darlene is committed to bringing a reasoned perspective and a thoughtful voice to the many issues facing Monterey County. The new 4th District consisting of Salinas, Marina, Seaside, Del Rey Oaks and Sand City, requires a representative who is dedicated to representing the entire District. Darlene will bring leadership and collaboration to help solve the issues facing our County, including: The Economy. We need to maintain a strong economy that supports both agriculture, tourism and small businesses. As a small business owner who has worked directly with both the agriculture and tourism industries, Darlene understands the unique challenges facing local businesses. Affordable Housing. Darlene is an administrator for one of Monterey County's most effective affordable housing advocacy organizations. She will work to make sure working famiies can afford to live and work here, and that we continue to improve the quality of life for every member of our community. |
