Political Philosophy for "Mr. G." Gonzalo Garcia

MR. G.'S POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY: "SWEEP CITY HALL CLEAN" REPRESENTATION FOR ALL As a candidate for District 3 I am a representative of all the people, all nationalities, religions, and walks of life. We have a richly diverse community of many different professions, economic backgrounds, and lifestyles. I bring to district 3 a very broad and open minded approach to government, that will guarantee representation to every facet of this community. All of the people of district 3 have the right to representation and I intend to be that representative. THE PROBLEM It is a shame that in "Americas Finest City" the FBI has raided our City Hall. Our leaders are undermining the power of your vote by selling out the people's representation. It is about time that we "Sweep City Hall Clean," and elect new people with a new vision for a new era. RESTORE TRUST San Diego wants sincere public servants, that when elected, will serve the people, not themselves or the special interest groups money. San Diegan's want to stop fighting City Hall. The trust of city officials is very low. It is my intention to restore that trust. PUBLIC SAFETY AND SECURITY We are living in a city with poor safety. The police department equipment is outdated. The police Academy is closed. Today we have 1.65 officers for 1,000 citizens, and declining. This is the lowest number for a city this size. We are facing a crisis and we are bargaining with the lives of the citizens of San Diego. I will, while in office, fight for our resident's security by making sure we have the best safety and security services this city can afford. FIRE DISASTER NEEDS The fire disaster created loss of life and property. Lack of leadership, shortsighted planning, and communications created a meltdown of the cities resources. Now we see the holes. I suggest a Bureau of Safety and Security that will be in charge of the public safety departments to bridge the gap between Fire and Police issues like our Homeland Security. San Diego will not feel comfortable leaving their homes under this climate of safety and security. Likewise, if the people of the third district are not safe, how can we expect them to spend, to increase economic growth. Tourism will drop and we will face what major cities wish they don't have: The reputation of fear, crime, and insecurity. I will work together with the Mayor and the city council to seek Federal, State, and private sector funding for these issues. "BANDAID POLITICS"/"BAD CASE OF PRESENTISM" Before the elections they say they are going to fix everything in the city. This is what I call "Band-Aid Politics." How are they going to do it? With what money? And now they are looking to gamble with the pension fund of the city. The people of the City of San Diego are heading to another ENRON fiasco. My answer is to put in place people with a grip of the present and a vision for the future. People who will not get "the paralysis of analysis." POOR LEADERSHIP Poor leadership, mis-management and overspending is the problem. I will not raise taxes to fill the holes they created! Who's fault is it? The City's! They Doubled the Deficit, and now they want to dip their hands in the money of the people. I advocate a "Rainy Day Reserve Fund" to foil these problems, and will seek to protect and fund the pension fund, and make the tough decisions. NEW KID ON THE BLOCK Politically, you can say that I am a new person on the block with a lot of experience, and a lot of heart and guts. The beginning of this decision to run for office created adversity that I never thought facing. At the onset of my campaign I had a white powdery substance mailed to me, which when investigated by the F.B.I. and USPS, turned out to be soap. My life has been threatened many times over the phone, and recently the life of my daughter has been also, but that has not deterred me. My candidacy does not have dirty laundry. Honestly, I was afraid, when I opened the envelope and saw the white powder, but it was such a good grade of soap that I had to use it to wash my clothes. I don't live in fear and I will keep going with my campaign, and keep my laundry clean. Truthfully, I think the person or persons who are doing this are running scarred that I will be elected as the new councilman of District 3. In all this, "I know a great philosopher..." "...His name is Jesus Christ." Thank you! God Bless, and God Bless America. Sincerely, Mr. G. Garcia Candidate for City Council 3rd District, City of San Diego |
