Support for Single-Payer Health InsuranceThe current system of health care, in which 40 million Americans are uninsured, is a travesty. The United States is the only industrialized country without universal health care. Employer-based health insurance is not working, as people change jobs frequently, can't afford coverage, or are unemployed with the ups and downs of the economy. The only proven effective and just method of ensuring access to health care for all is a single-payer health insurance system, in which the government, as in Medi-Care, reimburses doctors and other health providers for visits. Since Canada implemented such a system, the cost has risen much slower than in the United States, and all have access. Brian believes such a system is the only way to ensure all Americans. |
