I was born in Detroit Michigan. I'm the oldest of eight children and at the age of 13 my family became a single parent family and I worked after school pumping gas and delivering the Detroit News paper in the morning before school, to help support my brothers and sisters. I was drafted into the Navy and served honorably. After the Navy I went to work for General Motors and worked as a precision Machinist. Because of massive layoffs in the 70's I enlisted into the Army where I served with the 6th Army Headquarters in San Francisco. After I was medically retired from the Army my family moved to San Diego. I'm [now] 48 with 2 sons, 2 stepdaughters and (1) 3 year old granddaughter. I have worked for the city of San Diego for 16 years. Currently I'm a Grade 4 state Certified Water Treatment Operator, and one of the 5 operators at the Alvarado Treatment Plant. I have been active in the water department`s union and was elected as the vice-president of AFSCME Local 127. I have helped to develop water department's budget for over 12 years and have negotiated Labor contacts with the city for our union. Please feel free to call me at: 619-469-0018 . |
