Long time Humboldt County & Eureka Resident. Fully aware of community needs & desires.I was born in Fort Bragg, 1937; moved to Humboldt County 1946, attended and graduated Fortuna High 1955, attended Shasta College 1956. Was employed by Pacific Lumber Co. of Scotia from 1956 to 1961. In 1961, I applied and was hired for a firefighter position with the City of Eureka's Fire Department. In 1964 I was promoted to Fire Engineer, Fire Captain in 1972, and Fire Commander in charge of operations in 1981. In 1983 I was appointed Fire Chief by the City Manager & approved by the City Council. In 1994 After 33 years with the Fire Dept. I retired. In 1995, with my Stepson & another partner, we purchased Shafer's Ace Hardware. In 2000 My stepson purchased the business from myself and the other partner. In 1995 I was asked if I would be interest being on the Board for Humboldt Bay Municipal Water District. I was, was then interviewed by the Board and was selected. I have since been re-elected two times, serving 9 years. I am married to my wife RoseAnn, and together we have 6 children, and 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. We have a vacation home at Trinity Center in Trinity County and spend a great deal of qualty time there and on the lake. Activities and interests include boating, water sports, skiing, and ocean cruises. |
