Education

  • As an Aliso Niguel graduate, I understand the current situations that our schools face. We must strengthen the bridge between our schools, principals, teachers and the city, and we must do what is absolutely necessary to ensure that our children are properly educated. Whether the means of support is through after-school tutoring, homework clubs, work-study programs, or stronger parental involvement, in an age where technology has invigorated education, the number of children earning a first class education and then attending a University must increase. As president of Students For Success, advocating quality education is always my priority. We live in a first class city...our children deserve a first class education.

Community Safety
  • As a member of the California State Sheriffs Association, crime prevention and public awareness has been my main concern. Crime is down, but not out. Now is not the time to roll back the toughness that has made improvements in this area. We must maintain our tough stance on crime prevention. We must also provide law enforcement with the resources and support they need to keep our streets safe. We must continue to act on the Safe City Plan and ensure that our community remains a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.

Aggressively addressing water quality issues
  • Nikan Khatibi knows that clean water and clean beaches are important reasons people live here in Laguna Niguel. As a member of the Sierra Club of Orange County, I intend to resolve the Aliso Creek run-off water pollution problem in the safest, most cost-efficient manner to keep our local beaches enjoyable year-round and our quality of life preserved. Urban runoff is one of the leading sources of pollution in our waterways. It can result in destruction of habitat, stress & diseases to organisms, and most importantly, public health threats. The key to preventing urban runoff is managing the potential sources of contaminants before they enter our waterways. As a strong believer in collaboration and partnership, I will work hard to communicate and solve this problem together with the residents of Laguna Niguel.

Community Parks
  • Providing safe, quality parks where adults, seniors, and children can enjoy the outdoors is vital to the community at large. As a member of the Laguna Niguel City Council, I am determined to make sure our parks are first class by providing proper resources, ensuring park safety at all times, and making certain our parks are clean for all residents to enjoy.

Business Community
  • As a Director for the Laguna Niguel Chambers of Commerce, maintaining a business friendly environment is a priority. The businesses in Laguna Niguel, most of who are owned and operated by local residents, provide a convenient location for services, dinning, and accessories. Ensuring the relationship between the city and businesses is essential not only for the local economy, but essential for the quality of life of all Laguna Niguel residents.
