I was born and raised in South Sacramento. My husband Tom and I moved to Elk Grove in 1990, and I fell in love with the area. Consequently, I got involved in the community. I served two terms on the Elk Grove Planning Advisory Council (EGPAC), which reported to Sacramento County prior to Elk Grove becoming a city. I have been attending the Florin Resource Conservation District (FRCD) meetings for over four years and am currently an Associate Director helping out where I can, but I would like the opportunity to vote on the measures that come before the Board. I want to represent the people on issues like preserving our ecosystem and deciding about the water service. That is why I am running for the FRCD. I am retired from the State of California, where I was a Budget Analyst and a Department Safety Officer. I am a well-organized person. I am the Treasurer of Elk Grove Adult Community Training (an organization for developmentally delayed adults) and Treasurer of the Senior Center (for people age 50 and over). I am also an officer in Soroptimist International (SI) of Rio Cosumnes, a Director for SI of the Americas, a member of Cosumnes River College Foundation Board, the Friends of the Library, the Optimists Club, the Laguna Creek Watershed Council, the Historical Society, and I represent the Optimists on the Elk Grove Community Foundation Board. Finally, I am a member of the Old English Sheepdog Club of Sacramento. I am very active in the community thanks to my father, who was a Shriner. He taught me the importance of helping people. |
