The City of Vista has been unable to inspect or maintain its fire hydrants for the last 5 years.
The City of Vista currently has 3298 fire hydrants that have not been inspected or maintained for the last 5 years due to budget constraints by the County and State Governments. I met with the Fire Chief and have formed a Citizen Task Force made up of local service club members who will be trained by the Fire Department to inspect and provide basic maintaince while reporting major problems to the Fire Department. At this time the fire department is ready to start training the first set of volunteers. This will be accompished without any finacial impact to the City Budget.
