I support the concept that this site is well suited for recreational uses.I support the concept that this site is well suited for recreational uses. Some of that parkland could be developed for ball fields, tennis courts or soccer fields. Other land can be left as open space for passive recreation. Whether we develop some of it, or all of it, we need to discuss how to pay for building it and then how to maintain it. Many of the current parks are not as well maintained as they could be. Neighborhood parks that were planned for development are sitting idle because of a lack of funds. It has been suggested that we develop 20% of El Corazon land for commercial use to fund exclusively the build out of the park. The issue then becomes will that be enough money to adequately build out the desired features, and if so then could we not use some of those funds to develop and repair current neighborhood parks. |
