One of the most important issues facing Oceanside is how we can continue to provide a safe environment for our citizens and increase our safety forces. Our growth dictates that we add police and fire personnel. We need to guarantee a rapid response times in all areas of our city. I will work (on county, state and federal levels) to find additional revenue to pay for more police and fire officers. Once in office, I intend to focus my time and energy on economic development. An integral part of this focus will be to select a developer to build an destination hotel resort in downtown Oceanside. As the Director of Sales and Marketing for Oceanside Marina Suites and having a wide variety of experience working in city government, I know how valuable Transit Occupancy Tax (TOT) can be to a municipal government. Tourist related income is a natural for our beach community. TOT comes directly into the General Fund Budget, increasing our resources to provide more city services to our residents. Another area the I will focus on is to improve communication to our citizens. I will always respond to citizens concerns and issues. Residents need a voice on City Council and someone who is dedicated to working cooperatively with the community and getting results. I have worked on projects with many non-profit organizations and civic groups to improve Oceanside. |
