Traffic CongestionBy John SawyerCandidate for Member, City Council; City of Santa Rosa | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
We must find creative ways to reduce our frustrating traffic congestion. There is no single solution to our traffic congestion. Air pollution and gas consumption is effected by snarled traffic, not to mention frayed nerves. We should begin to install an Advanced Traffic Control System to help move traffic on our existing streets more efficiently. This system is currently being investigated by our Public Works Department and shows great promise. Once this system is in place, drivers will notice an immediate improvement in delays. The major arterial street connections need to to be completed to help move cars out of our neighborhoods. The widening of "101" should be completed as soon as possible while working with those impacted by the construction to minimize the temporary negative effects on neighborhoods and business. Public transit must be encouraged, promoted and enhanced. This is an important element in solving our future traffic problems. |
